My Pregnancy Story

If you’ve been pregnant before you know that you LOVE to tell your story! Each person has a different pregnancy story and I hear that most women have different pregnancy experiences with each pregnancy! Buckle up for a detailed pregnancy story!

very interesting pregnancy story of a first time mom!

My husband and I had been married for 9 months and I was very “baby hungry“! I won a bet we had and we tried one time without protection and got pregnant. I remember not believing all the signs that began to show up as week 4 and 5 approached. I had the typical symptoms that come with being pregnant. I actually didn’t tell my husband at first what I suspected. I took three at home pregnancy tests and I couldn’t tell if they were positive or negative! They were the cheap kind and with my best guess I decided that they all said no. (Word to the wise, next time just get one that says “Pregnant” or “Not Pregnant”. It’s worth the extra cost).

A week went by and the morning sickness was getting worse, so I decided to tell my husband! I can’t keep any secrets from him! We went to the store and got the digital pregnancy test. I was so nervous I couldn’t look at it! I had to have my husband read it when it finally showed up! Pregnant!! It was the most liberating, yet most “light-headed” feeling ever!

The first 17 weeks were hard! I was oober sick! I couldn’t even drink water, it was that bad! I know there are tons of people who have it worse, so I’m not complaining. And luckily, unlike my mom and older sisters, I was only sick for the first 17 weeks. They were all sick the entire time! I had to take Vitamin C and Unisom every day the entire pregnancy though. If I didn’t, the next day was a morning sickness disaster! For whatever reason, the two of those together work wonders!

Then I got into the best stage of all! When you feel super cute with a little baby bump, you know the gender, you’re out of the sickness phase, yet you aren’t super uncomfortable! I loved it! I loved to attention, the feeling of the baby! I loved feeling close to God, knowing that He allowed my body to create another human being! I loved knowing that at the end of all of this, that I would get a baby! My baby!!

I worked a full time job up until the day I had him. That proved to be a little difficult some days when I was extra sick or extra tired! Especially the days when work brought extra stress. But I am grateful I had the job! I worked in medical billing, which  the knowledge from proved to be very helpful when I had to deal with the hospital and doctor bills when I actually had my baby.

I specifically remember hitting my 30 week mark. That week was very surreal to me.  It was the first time I felt like I was counting down the days until I got to meet my son! I had 10 weeks left! So much to do to get everything in line for his arrival!

I hit about 35 weeks and my doctors (I go to a practice that has 8 doctors that you rotate between) were very insistent that I would not have him early! They actually scheduled my inducement date for 10 days after my due date! I was so so bummed! Week after week they continued to tell me that same thing!

To throw a wrench in the story, my husband got a new job at this time! This would present a problem because of insurance coverage! It was a huge mess! If I was to have him on my “inducement date” then my son wouldn’t have been covered under any insurance. We were praying that he would come early, but all of the doctors continued to tell us that wouldn’t happen.

On my 38 week check up my doctor said that he could try and strip my membranes to help speed up the process (to help with the insurance problem). But he couldn’t because I wasn’t even dilated to a one. That night we went to a friend’s wedding reception then decided to walk around the mall for Mother’s Day gifts (for my mom and mother-in-law). That night we went to bed like normal; I got up for a 1:00 potty break. Unlike normal, around 2:30 I woke up and thought I peed my pants a little. I was so embarrassed! I ran to the bathroom and my water broke! Although, I didn’t know it! I sat there for a few minutes thinking that I just had to go potty for a long time! I actually tried yelling to my husband to wake him up to get him to google what it felt like to have your water break! He wouldn’t wake up, so I went out and grabbed my phone but had to run back on the toilet because I was still leaking!

Needless to say, we went to the hospital shortly there after! I was then in labor for 30 hours waiting for my body to dilate. I never did. Finally the doctor decided I needed to have a cesarean section to get the baby out to reduce infection! I was completely bummed! I was not anticipating a c-section! But I was happy to do it to keep my son safe.

My son was delivered within 20 minutes of getting in the operating room. He had some troubles breathing so he was sent to the NICU.

We were so blessed during the entire process! It is the most indescribable, most heavenly feeling to hold your baby in your arms and realize that he just came from heaven! That God trusted you with this sweet spirit! That you and your husband are completely responsible for him!

I am one happy mama! I know this was an extra long post, they all won’t be like this! But this little boy makes me happier than I ever knew was possible! I was just telling my husband today that I can’t believe I can love someone so deeply! He brings me pure joy! It radiates from deep within and I love being his mom! I can’t hardly wait for the others to join our loving family!

I’d love to hear your story! Do we have anything in common? Feel free to leave a comment!
