Which Eating Plan is Right for You

I get a lot of clients asking me which eating plan is right for them for their weight loss journey.

Let me take a step back and explain a little background. {I’ll try to summarize} 😉

I have been overweight almost all of my life & therefore have obsessed about weight loss and healthy living for countless years. Fast forward a decade and I am now a Health Coach & a Certified Health Education Specialist. I help people understand what truly is healthy living and what habits they need to kick.

So why does this concern you?

Well there are a few reasons I’m posting this here {it’s unconventional for people in my field to be completely transparent} but I want to explain my views, beliefs and eating plans so that we can partner together.

You may not be ready for a health coach now, but when you are I want you to think of me.

I have a TON of different eating plans; but I am going to break down my most popular 3 eating plans. Keep in mind that each eating plan can be customized to each person {if you are breastfeeding, if you are an athlete, if you have diabetes, if you have over 100 lbs to lose, if you just want to maintain, if you just want to learn how to eat healthier, if you just want to learn how to kick your sugar addiction, and the list goes on and on}. I can’t stress this enough so let me say it again.

Each eating plan can {and will} be customized to your personal health goals & needs, these are just the most popular.

With that in mind, let’s break down the top 3 eating plans.

Eating Plan #1: 5 Meal Replacements & one Homemade meal

I work with Take Shape for Life. I partnered with them because I believe in their trifold – Healthy Mind, Body & Finances. They provide meal replacements, aka pre-packaged food, that has been developed by a team of Nutritionists.

All that sounds like gibber-gabber. In other words, the meal replacements are perfectly calculated to have the correct nutrients that you need.

Think of the meal replacements like the vitamins you take in the morning. The vitamins aren’t all natural.  You can’t even pronounce the ingredients in them…but they are just a bunch of healthy ingredients that your body needs smashed into one easy to eat pill.  That’s similar to what these meal replacements are. Perfectly balanced fat, carb and protein.

Once you reach your health goals you can use natural foods to maintain.

Why is this important?

That means it balances your blood sugars perfectly! {Having balanced blood sugars is the best way to stop sugar cravings and to shed those last stubborn pounds}

It’s super important to go through this phase with a Health Coach so that you don’t gain all of your weight back.

Price per month: $320*, plus the grocery store cost for the 1 lean and green meal a day.

When calculating, remember to average about 10 pounds a month. Say you want to lose 40 pounds, estimate that you would do the plan for 4 months, then enter maintenance phase after that.

By the way. The biggest hesitation I run into with clients is that they have this perception about meal replacements that they are super super expensive. I found this comparison that I thought I’d share 🙂

Eating Plan #2: Half & Half

This is a fun eating plan. Here we take half meal replacements and half whole foods. What happens most often is my client orders 3 meal replacements for their snacks and cook 3 of their meals.

Education is a huge part of this plan. You must educate yourself {I am a huge part of this too} from the beginning to know what is truly healthy and what habits to avoid.

Some of my clients feel like this a very realistic balance. It’s satisfies the connivence of a busy life {with a meal replacement}, it provides a safe-net to know you are getting the right nutrients {with the meal replacements} but it also gives realistic freedom {with the whole foods}.

Half & Half Eating plan pros and cons. Nutrition is 75% of weight loss and a healthy body! Choose the right eating plan to help you create the body you want!

Price per month: $170*, plus the grocery store cost of the three meals a day.

Eating Plan #3: Whole Foods

Then there are some of my clients who are very against meal replacements and who want to start right off the bat with whole foods.

I am totally fine with that. The main reason people love ‘whole foods’ the best is because they have been on diets before and have gained the weight back & they have heard that whole foods are good for them. They know that diets are bad. Which they are. But maintaining weight loss of any kind is dependent upon the person’s willingness to change & their knowledge of how to properly maintain.

The hardest part about this eating plan for me, as the health coach, is dispelling common health myths that most of my clients think are “healthy”.

On the other hand, this eating plan is so interactive it’s super fun when clients choose this one.

In this eating plan I come up with a meal plan that is specific to you; I provide a “to buy” and a “not to buy” list. I work really hard to help educate you to know what foods are amazing for your body and what foods you should avoid.

Whole Foods Eating Plan Pros and Cons. Nutrition is 75% of weight loss and a healthy body! Choose the right eating plan to help you create the body you want!

Price per month: $50 for Health Coach, $10 for materials & price of the grocery store food which can be super hard to tack down because each person’s health goals are so different, what foods they choose to buy, what their grocery store costs are, and how many people in their family who are going to eat ‘whole foods’ with them.

Overview of Eating Plans

I’m not sure if you picked up on it, but these eating plans were designed to begin with #1, then move to #2, the live in #3.

Even though it was designed that way, you don’t have to do that. Each eating plan can stand alone or can be added with another.

I know that was a lot of information to take in, but I hope it clarified what eating plans I provide and specialize in. I have had success with these eating plans multiple, multiple times.

The hardest part about stating the price is that it truly does depend. It depends on what food you choose to buy, what allergies you might have, how many people you are feeding, where you shop, etc. But I know that it is important to have some price in your head to have a guideline. So please think of these prices as a great estimate, but not exact.

And remember that you are just switching grocery stores. It can be difficult to see your grocery bill as a total upfront cost, but most of these meals end up being just over $2 a meal. That’s incredible! And knowing that it is perfectly balanced nutrition, is even more powerful.
